Emperor es una casi legendaria banda de Symphonic Black Metal Noruego. Fue unos de los principales impulsores de este sub-genero, con sus albunes principales In The Nightside Eclipse (1994) y Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk(1997).Sus letras hablan sobre satanismo en un principio, posteriormente sobre ideas vikingas y paganas, centrándose en la oscuridad, la fuerza del ser humano, temas de ocultismo, leyendas/folklore noruego y algunos temas más. La banda se incio en 1991, siendo parte de los integrantes del Inner Circle y se termino el 2001. Despúes la banda se volio a unir el 2005, pero solo tocando, no han sacado material nuevo...
